Conventions

Society Conventions are FUN EVENTS. An opportunity to gain material, information and meet other collectors with similar interests. There is nothing better as an aid to expanding your collection than to have other members of the Society aware of your interests. They can often supply both material and information to enhance your collection.

We had a great meeting. Although a lack of sufficient entries prevented us from awarding the GPS Grand Award, we did award a GPS Gold Medal to the best German-area exhibit at GASS: “Zeppelin On Board Mail” by Brian Callan.

Information for GASS 2025

More information will becoming out soon about GASS. See the APS webpage for more info.

Exhibitors should note that it is wise to get your entries in as early as possible, especially if you are a one-frame exhibitor. There are only 10 one-frame slots for each section of the show: APS StampShow, the National Topical Stamp Show, and AmeriCover. Some GPS exhibitors were not able to exhibit in 2024 due to this restriction.

Exhibit forms will soon be available for both the philatelic and literature exhibitions. Exhibits may be entered in one of three sub-shows: National Topical Stamp Show, AmeriCover, and APS StampShow. Get your entries in as soon as possible. GPS will have the following philatelic exhibiting awards: GPS large medals as per the show medal level awarded; the President’s Grand Award(GPS Grand Award) [GPS Members Only]; the Chris Hunt Award(GPS Reserve Grand Award); GPS One Frame Grand Award; and the Herman L. Halle Research Award for Best Exhibit Research. We will also award the George A. Blizil Memorial Award, the annual award for the best article published in theGerman Postal Specialist in the preceding year at our General Membership Meeting.

We will have a Society table at the show. We hope to have a hospitality room—details to be determined. We plan to hold some talks and seminars. If you would like to give a talk, please contact us {put contact info here} as soon as possible. Once that part of the show opens up for scheduling, slots will go fast. We will have a board meeting and we will have our annual general membership meetings, where members will be able to meet the boar members and ask questions. The Blizil award will be given there as well as any 25 and 50 year membership awards.
